Research interests

Pim is an ARC DECRA Research Fellow at the Global Change Institute (The University of Queensland) and an Associate Researcher at the California Academy of Sciences. He is also an Associate Editor for the journal "Molecular Ecology". Prior to this, he was the lead scientist for the Deep Reef component of the "XL Catlin Seaview Survey" (2012-2016) and a research fellow on the DSITIA Accelerate Partnership Grant “Coral genomes along environmental gradients” (2014-2016). He uses next-generation sequencing approaches to study the biodiversity and connectivity of mesophotic reefs in different parts of the world, with a particular focus on the Great Barrier Reef / Coral Sea and the Southern Caribbean.
