Pim is a Post-Doctoral Research Fellow at the School of Biological Sciences (The University of Queensland, Australia). His research is focusing on mesophotic reefs on the Great Barrier Reef and in the Coral Sea, as well as on the reefs of Curacao in the Caribbean. Of particular interest are (1) the genetic connectivity between shallow and deep coral populations, (2) the role of depth in coral species diversification, and (3) the genetic diversity of the symbiotic algae (Symbiodinium) associated with mesophotic corals.
